Fairfield Weekly
Nola in Beepo
Bridgeport's Fairfield Avenue is not exactly New Orleans' Bourbon Street,
but it does have a big old building named after a French word (the Bijou),
in which there's a funky restaurant/music venue that serves up pizzas with
Cajun-inspired toppings, and on Fat Tuesday, that's enough to do a Mardi
Gras thing! Today, the talented young musicians of the Jazz Guild
take on a New Orleans marching band configuration and lead a parade through
downtown Bridgeport, ending at Two Boots, where local mainstays Otis &
the Hurricanes will belt out some swampy, thumping blues-rock. It's free
to attend, which means you can spend more on pizza and beer. |
