No Triangles is a rock duo hailing from Omaha, NE and features the mulch-instrumentalists Conor MacBride and Coley Mixan. The band composes swelling melodies heavily influenced by Arcade Fire, Patti Smith, Florence & the Machine, Say Anything, U2, The National, and various jazz ensembles—all the while emphasizing their intimate, and sometimes unsettling, lyrics that deal with individual understandings of isolation from a larger society. The music of No Triangles. reassures its audience that the struggles they face are not to be endured alone--often their songs weave a tight narrative surrounding death, light, and the infinite variety of relationships found in one's life. No Triangles. is interested in exploring the idea of "Human" as a verb--that all of us have a stake in each others lives and a great need to express the best of each other, despite our vast differences (and similarities).

Head With Wings

Nails Hide Metal

MeLinda Lidia Dalton
- drums, percussion,
keyboards, harmonica, vocals

Russ Quinn
- guitars, bass, keyboards, vocals

Russ Quinn and MeLinda Lidia Dalton began writing and playing together in 2009. In 2010, the duo released their first EP titled 'Ghost'. For the remainder of 2010 and 2011, the songs were performed to live audiences both as a duo and with a band. In August 2011, Russ and MeLinda began recording material for a new EP. After a few months of tracking, mixing and mastering 'Where Are We Now' was born. The band has been featured on WPKN, WPLR and WESU.

Head With Wings

Josh Corum (vocals, guitars), Joe Elliot (bass), Andrew Testa (drums), and Brandon Cousino (guitars)

A precocious infant of a band, Head With Wings in just two short months has found its distinct voice in the New Haven music scene. The band has developed an ever-evolving brand of alternative rock reminiscent of Thrice meets Minus The Bear with the progressive flourishes of Opeth and Porcupine Tree and the sorrow and vocal passion of the late Jeff Buckley.

"These days, my lyrics typically paint scenery and lean toward the obscure," says Corum. "This is not always the case, as we have songs like Time Will Never Leave Me Be, that deal with the idea of always being antagonized by time; being choked while working towards success."

This sense of urgency goes beyond the themes of their lyrical content as Head With Wings already has plans to release a 3-4 song EP and prepare for a national tour in their first year as a group.

"Understanding the philosophy of bands that inspire me helps to envision a path to success," adds Corum.

With ambitions this high and artistry this intriguing, Head With Wings have all the talent and intangibles to walk that path. If the first two months are any indication, Head With Wings' continued prodigious growth makes them a band to follow in 2012.

• Run the Saints

Veteran singer/songwriter guitarist Seth Tiven is spotlighting his talents with a new self-produced CD, fittingly titled Solitude. Purely by coincidence, Rykodisc recently released a collection of some of Dumptruck’s best music titled Haul of Fame, covering several decades of Tiven’s music career.

Co-founder of the ‘80s college radio darlings, Dumptruck, Tiven got his start playing music in the New Haven and Boston indie-rock scene. His first band, Saucers, included drummer Mark Mulcahy, who went on to be singer of the now-defunct Miracle Legion, and bass player, Craig Bell, who had previously been in the Cleveland proto-punk band Rocket From the Tombs, which spawned the legendary punk group the Dead Boys and art-punk pioneers Pere Ubu.

Broadcast Hearts ^

Broadcast Hearts is a four-piece, alternative rock band from Trumbull, Connecticut. Formed in 2009, the group comprises Avery Bazan (lead vocals, piano), Chris Parian (backing vocals, synth), Justin Molfese (backing vocals, bass guitar), and Ted Ferik (drums).

Noted for their guitar-less set, the keys-based group engages a dynamic sound and style, drawing influence from acts such as Coldplay, Keane, Jack's Mannequin, and OneRepublic. Contrasted by leading piano and synths, the band presents a wide range of music from anthems to ballads. While still in infancy, the band has enjoyed success in various venues in Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and New York.

We're Run the Saints. We're an indie/acoustic duo based out of Boston/Fairfield County.

Run The Saints was formed in September 2011 by Graham Cooke and Chip Foarde, two students at Boston University. Graham and Chip come from very different musical backgrounds. Graham thrives on punk rock, ska, and indie; Chip on blues, jazz, and rock. Despite their differences, these two have joined forces to write, record, and play live, all while exploring new musical ideas and concepts.

Teen Destroyer, Cometa, Cheeky

Cometa / www.cometamusic.com

With a combination of emotional alt/punk songwriting and an unforgettable live show, Cometa has attracted a devoted fanbase and radio airplay on both college and mainstream stations; as well as opening slots for national acts like Rise Against, New Found Glory, Anberlin, and Lostprophets.

Cometa consists of twin brother guitarist/songwriters Gareth and Grant Cometa, bassist Haroon Ramzan, and drummer Wes Long. Since their formation in 2005, they have performed on such notable stages as the El-n-Gee, Toad's Place, and Webster Theater; and have won 1st and 2nd place prizes for numerous
Battle-of-the-Bands.

Cheeky

Cheeky is a two person, two guitar band. Bryttany Cunningham (lead vocals/guitar) and Charlotte Axthelm (vocals/guitar), dabble in a new concept called "guitar-chestra", in which the use of guitars takes the place of a full band through solely harmonies, dynamics, and creativity. Sticking to traditional roots, they range from creative covers, originals, to even mash-ups placing them in the acoustic indie genre. Their goal as a band is to truly convey a message through music.

Teen Destroyer (garage / punk)

Back from the dead after nearly two decades, Teen Destroyer are together again to reek havoc across the Northeast and beyond. Originally formed in 1988, Hugh, Dave and John were part of first generation Eastern CT underground bands such as Nine Day Wonders (instrumental pop/punk), Bad Influence (sludge/stoner punk/metal), and Berets and Big Sweaters (noise, industrial, performance art troupe), As Loadstar they played across southern New England with the likes of All, Nice Strong Arm and local legends of that era. In early 2010 they got back together for a one-off afternoon, and quickly realized that they still destroyed in a manner rarely seen or heard in the current scene. Since then they've turned up the volume, created a load of new noise, and reinvented the dozens of originals they played in ancient times. Loud and fast and not clearly fitting into any particular punk or garage ghetto, they're back on the road preaching the gospel of girls, hot rods, and monsters.

Husband and wife duo The Sawtelles are a balance of four elements, alternate-tuned guitar, stand-up drum kit (ala Velvet Underground’s Mo Tucker) and two voices. Sparse but intricately arranged pop that is as lush as it is threadbare makes what is played as important as what isn’t.

Their self-produced DIY philosophy aligns them more with the hand painted Sun Ra LP’s of 1950’s and 60’s then it does with those striving for mainstream commercial success.

Although he has almost "mathy" technical rap abilities he's first and foremost a singer-songwriter at heart. Although one Ceschi song may consist of punk influenced machine gun fast raps, the next may be a quiet folk ballad played on acoustic guitar.

KLOKWIZE is a standout recording artist and live performer known for his trendsetting style and sound. Blending melodic, organic pop sensibility with rock and hip hop flair, the rapper/singer (born Patrick James) and his namesake live band (including wizkid guitarist Mike Alves) have been rapidly winning over listeners across the world as well as gaining a cult-like following in their native New England.

Brian Dolzani (folk/rock, singer/songwriter)
http://briandolzani.com/
“[Brian] exudes the melodic charm and trebly vocal hitches of Jules Shear, and the heartbreaking warmth and intriguing lyrical turns of Freedy Johnston.” - Cincinnati City beat

Brian Dolzani's songs illustrate the seeking and longing inside all of us; for redemption, fulfillment, understanding, pleasure, love. His voice is often described as a 'smoother' Neil Young. His introspective, personal songs and engaging live performances move those who are open to being touched by music and words that are full of humanity, imperfection, vulnerability, and strength. Brian takes his cues from those 1960's and 70's songwriters who, through their own soul-searching and raw intensity, are able to move listeners through just melody, lyric, and acoustic guitar.

Forgotten by Friday

They have made a reputation as one of the best original bands in New England by playing the top-tier venues from Vermont to Nashville. They bring incredible musicianship with solid songwriting and a fun interactive stage show to their live performances.

Fins, Philistines, Jr., Paxatonia

The PHILISTINES Jr. (Listen / Watch)
are brothers Peter & Tarquin Katis and drummer Adam Pierce. With a reputation as No-Fi home studio recording wizards, they have been recording and releasing their unique brand of experimental pop music since 1990...on their own TARQUIN RECORDS label (also on Dot Dot Dash and on LISSY’S and SHIVER in the U.K.). All their releases have charted on numerous college radio stations across North America and enjoyed frequent air play by dj John Peel on his BBC. Radio 1 program. Their 7" single (The Sci-Fi Song/Moon River) on LISSY’S was Single of the Week on the Steve LeMacq show on BBC 1 radio in June ‘95 and earned a spot on Britain’s Indie Charts. Upon hearing their first 12", John Peel telephoned the band “just to say how much he liked the record” and to invite them to record a Peel Session in London for the BBC. The PHILISTINES Jr. have since completed three Peel Sessions and U.K. tours.
Touring the U.S., they have played with such bands as MERCURY REV, YO LA TENGO, STEREOLAB, LUNA, CAKE, FOUNTAINS OF WAYNE, KING MISSILE and JONATHAN RICHMAN. The band pursues numerous side projects that include THE ZAMBONIS, THE HAPPIEST GUYS IN THE WORLD, JAMES KOCHALKA SUPERSTAR, and THE PORK GUYS. Long time drummer, Adam Pierce, is busy with MICE PARADE, THE DYLAN GROUP and THE SWIRLIES.

Philistines Jr. / Tarquin Records

New Milford, CT’s Fins channels elements from the past in a way that keeps the music cutting-edge. The group’s distinctive style can only be considered other worldly. They’re noise punk with melody - blistering your ear drums as the group soars through sonic auroras. Fins have been generating scuzzy, moss pop in the rural sprawl of northwestern Connecticut since early 2012. Rejecting most social conventions the trio spend their nights hacking melodies from their dense, woodland surroundings. After touring in various noise-punk projects over the past five years, Fins are ready to take their searing snake rock sound straight to the moon… or where ever they crash land first.

Paxatonia (Ledyard, CT)
Having 2 years of practice and scattered live performances, we have built a solid repertoire of songs, including alternative and instrumental pieces. Think Incubus meets Phish. Although we have yet to record some of our work, we can organize an entertaining live setlist on a moments notice.

alexDC-based troubadour Alex Vans creates a unique, shape-shifting blend of rock, folk and pop. His recent self-titled EP is lived in, warm and yet minimalistic, shaped by the hands of a master song-craftsman and high-burnished by the lungs of one of the Capital's most promising young vocalists.

Alex's broad-but-never-bombastic voice is the first thing that strikes the ear, calling to mind Jeff Tweedy, or maybe even the kind of vocalist Conor Oberst might grow up into (if Oberst cared to grow up). Just beneath the spare, plaintive vocals lies Alex's sunny Hendrix and SRV-inspired guitar riffs, creating a bittersweet pastiche that evokes Beck's "Sea Change" period. Not gratuitously, he seamlessly adds in some phrasing nods to the Beatles and The Arcade Fire that serve to add to the tension between traditional and modern sounds.
